Harriet V. Kliem, 85, passed away on Dec 29, 2008, in Salina. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edwin “Eddy” Kliem; an infant son, Edward; her parents, William and Freda Boshe Kelsey; three sisters, Mae Emma “Tootie” Thompson, Lenora Frances Heidebrecht and Eva Dorothy Lorentz; and a granddaughter, Jeannie Heath. She had worked as quartermaster at St. John’s Military School and the Credit Bureau of Salina and as a secretary-receptionist for the Woodland Park, Colo., Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Kay Peterson, of Salina; and a son, Lewis William Kliem, of Lawrence; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina. Memorials are suggested to Shrine Children’s Hospitals or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is handling arrangements.
