He was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Ellis County, KS, and had worked as a custodian in Salina for Kansas Wesleyan University and the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by three brothers, Phil of Blue Rapids, KS, Elmer of Deepwater, MO, Jack of Kansas City; and four sisters, Hadie Smith of Kansas City, MO, Isabelle Brungardt of Linn, KS, Agnes Marsteller of Washington, KS, Edna Moore of Phoenix, AZ.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, KS. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials to St. Mary Grade School, Salina.
