Leo Lust, 85, Salina, passed away Friday, July 11, 2008, at Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, surrounded by beloved family members. He was born on Nov. 14, 1922, in Hoisington to Alexanderand Lydia (Streck) Lust. On Oct. 30, 1949, he married Joan Niehouse in Salina. Leo served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his service, he graduated from Brown Mackie and worked as a comptroller for Graves Truckline for 27 years. He also served as an accountant at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 18 years. Leo was active in Boy Scouts, coaching baseball, Civitan and the Salvation Army, and was an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer. Leo is survived by his wife, Joan, of the home; two sons, Mike and wife Vicki, Springfield, MO, and Greg and wife Tammie, Salina; two daughters, Sue Woods and husband Rod, Belleville, and Patti Hoeffner and husband Doug, Salina; one sister, Esther Boxberger, Hoisington; aunt, Nora Henshaw, Wichita; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina, KS 67401, with Father Kerry Ninemire officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Memorials may be made to Sisters of Saint Joseph, Salina Catholic Schools or Sunflower Adult Day Center and may be left in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, KS 67401. |
