Mary E. Lyle, 89, Salina, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at the Holiday Resort. She was born on Nov. 21, 1918, in Kansas City, Kan., to George Herbert and Mary Theresa (Shine) Buckley. She married James W. Lyle on Nov. 27, 1935. She was a homemaker, staying at home to raise and supervise her children under difficult economic conditions. Later, she worked in retail sales. She moved from Shawnee to Salina in 1978, where she worked for Kline’s Dept. Store. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W., and a son, Edward G. Survivors include her son, James W. Lyle Jr. and wife Fay, Derby; daughter, Lillian Faerber and husband Kenneth, Salina; 10 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, KS 67401, followed by a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with Father Allen Scheer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. Memorials may be made to the cathedral or Holiday Resort Nursing Home. |
