He was born November 19, 1930 at Abrego Freznillo Zacatecas Mexico He was an assembler for Wyatt Manufacturing and Great Plains Manufacturing, Salina for twenty-seven years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, sang in the church choir and was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus.

In 1987, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hermila Martinez and a daughter,Eva Martinez.

He is survived by his wife, Julia; four sons, Pedro Martinez and his wife, Luisa, Israel Martinez and his wife, Reyna, and Jose Martinez, and his wife Carmen, and Gumaro Martinez; four daughters, Amparo Felquerez and her husband, Abel, Maria Moreno & her husband, Larry, Celia Rivera and her husband, Jorge, and Elisa Martinez; two brothers, Tomas Martinez and Genaro Martinez; three sisters, Elena Hernandez, Belen Martinez, and Socorro Vargas; thirty grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Father Carlos Ruiz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. A vigil and rosary service will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Memorials are suggested to the church. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina, Kansas 67401 and then at the church.
