James F. Minneman
May 23, 1937 - October 31, 2008

James F. Minneman, 71, Salina, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008. He was born May 23, 1937, in Salina, to Theodore C. and Helen Lucile (Crawford) Minneman. In 1955, he graduated from Salina High School and attended Kansas State University. He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd and 11th Airborne Divisions. On July 6,1962, he married Janie Irene Obenchain.

In 1965, he was a co-founder and treasurer of the Peach Lutheran Church, Grass Valley, Calif. For 34 years, he worked for Guy F. Atkinson Construction, San Francisco, as a senior administrative business manager for projects involving the construction of large hydroelectric dams, power plants, flood control and highway construction. He was involved in projects in Washington state, South Carolina, New Mexico, California, Maine, Missouri, Arizona, West Virginia, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

He was a BPOE (Elks) member for 50 years, 32nd degree Mason for 40 years, and Blue Lodge member, all of Lewiston, Idaho.He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore C., on May 29, 1989; mother, Helen Lucile on Dec. 1, 2004; and sister, Amaryllis Ann Newby.

Survivors include his wife, Janie, of the home; son Steven and wife Deanna, Denver; three brothers, John A. , Washington, Iowa, Joseph C., Peoria, Ill., and Jeffrey T., Salina; and two grandsons, Grayson Minneman and Taylor Minneman, both of Denver.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, 67401, where family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
