Rosemary Nelson, 81, Salina, died Saturday, June 21, 2008. Mrs. Nelson was born April 8, 1927 at Topeka, the daughter of Lloyd and Ethel Gaines. She was raised in Lawrence and graduated from the University of Kansas where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She married C. Stanley in 1949. In 1951 they moved to Salina where they raised four sons. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter DL and enjoyed tennis, painting and gardening. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time at Sunflower Adult Day Services. She was preceded in death by her sister June McMillen. Survivors include her husband C. Stanley of the home; four sons, Steve of Salina, Jeff and wife Lisa of Overland Park, Mike of Fairway and Kendal of Wichita; two sisters, Beverly “Boo” Gibson of Jewell and Marjorie McCardell of Bella Vista, AR and four grandchildren, Chris and Colby Nelson and Carley and Kate Nelson. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church, 308 S. Eighth. Private family burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunflower Adult Day Services, 401 W. Iron, Salina or the Alzheimer’s Association. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401 is handling arrangements. |
