George J. Pells, 77, Salina, was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Thedford, Neb., and passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, in Salina. He retired from Tony’s Pizza Service to pursue his passion of woodworking. He was an Ambassador of the Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church. George was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy A. Pells, in 1997; and his brother, Phillip Pells. He is survived by his six children, Debra Roper, of Gulfport, Miss., Ron Pells and wife Janet, of Clermont, Fla., Cindy Dimitri and husband Mike, of Smolan, Sharon Spain and husband Dave, of Wichita, Susie Cossel and husband Scott, of Tescott, and Lori Wuthnow and husband Roger, of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and four sisters, Clarissa Handy and husband Howard, of Sedro Wooley, Wash., Esther Stone, of Graham, Wash., Mary Lou Oliver, of Kennwick, Wash., and Ruth Allread, of Parma, Idaho. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, 67401, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Christ Cathedral Episcopal Church, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OCCK Transportation Service, Salina. |
