Eleanor Englund Persigehl
July 21, 1921 - April 21, 2008

Eleanor Englund Persigehl, 86, Salina, passed away April 21st at Salina Presbyterian Manor. Eleanor was born July 21, 1921, in Smolan, Kansas, to Martin and Mabel Larson Englund. She graduated from Kansas Wesleyan and was an elementary school teacher for 41 years in Salemsborg, Humbargar, Galva, Ellis, Russell and Salina, Kansas. She married Walter Persigehl on June 15, 1961. He preceded her in death March 22, 1995. Besides being a homemaker, she was also active in the U.S. Federal employee retiree association, NARFE and First Covenant Church of Salina. She and Walter were known for winning many contests and drawings at stores and radio stations. Her last years were spent at the Presbyterian Manor in Salina, Kansas.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister Elaine Englund Thompson. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Ray Thompson of Austin, Texas; a niece, Debra Thompson and husband Gard Ayres from Georgetown, Texas; and a nephew, Kent Thompson and wife Tracy and their daughter Tori Thompson, all of Round Rock, Texas. Besides numerous cousins throughout the country, she also is survived by cousins, Vernon Englund of Mesa, Arizona, Jean and husband Marvin Persigehl of Salina, their daughter, Donna Persigehl of Alphretta, Georgia, and their son, David Persigehl of Smolan, Kansas.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Covenant Church or Salina Presbyterian Manor. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary, during which time the family will receive friends.
