Robert M. Sapp
May 15, 1924 - September 30, 2008

Robert M. Sapp, 84, Salina, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008. Mr. Sapp was born May 15, 1924, in Owensboro, KY. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. In 1967, he moved to Salina from Manhattan. He married Helen M. Woellhof on March 20, 1971, in Ellsworth. He was a maintenance carpenter and door-key employee for Salina Technical Institute. He served as president of the Eagles Lodge from 1980 to 1981, was a former member of the American Legion, was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Owensboro and did charitable work.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the home; two sons, Robert Sapp Jr. and Joseph Sapp, both of Manhattan; a daughter, Dorothy Carney, of Manhattan; two stepsons, Darrel Woellhof, of Manhattan, and Michael Woellhof, of LaPorte, Texas; a stepdaughter, Donna Gray, of Raytown, Mo.; a sister, Jeanne O’Bryan, of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A family memorial service and inurnment will be at a later date in Wabaunsee Cemetery, near Wamego. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401 is in charge of arrangements.
