Thomas Roy “Tom” Scott, 65, Salina, went peacefully to be with Jesus in his home Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2008. Tom was born to his parents, Elmer Edward and Ruby Virginia (James) Scott, in Downs on May 23, 1943. He grew up on the family farm, six miles north of Downs. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966 and was stationed in Germany. Tom loved his trucks and drove for 41 years for Graves, Airco and most recently for Wal-Mart for 11 years. He had four and a half million accident-free, safe driving miles. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Carol “Kitty” Scott. Survivors include his two sons, Mark Scott of Salina and Mike Lewis and companion Sue Ann of Lincoln, NE; one daughter, Tina Lewis of Salina; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; fiancée, Loretta Rider of Salina; her three children, Jodi Rinderer and husband Jim of Bennington, Vickie Musselman and husband Russ of Niles and Janell Weeks and husband Tom of Winfield; her seven grandchildren; his sister, Mary Kay and husband Gail of Salina; one niece, Debbie; and one nephew, Doug and wife Tamie and their children, Alex and Abbie. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street, Salina, KS 67401. A Christian celebration of Tom’s life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at First Church of the Nazarene, 1425 S. Ohio, Salina, KS 67401, with Reverands Jon Fillipi and Paul Robbins officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials may be given to Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Tammy Walker Cancer Center, First Church of the Nazarene or Trinity Lutheran Church, all of Salina. |
