Frank S. Skelton
October 12, 1918 - December 1, 2008

Frank S. Skelton, 90, Salina, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008. Mr. Skelton was born October 12, 1918 in Monett, AR, the son of James T. and Frankie (Bibbs) Skelton. He worked for the Lee Co., Salina Supply, Midwest Machine and the Salina Water Dept. from which he retired Jan.1, 1981. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 1432, a member of First Presbyterian Church and AARP and a honorary member of D.A.V.

Frank served as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a P.O.W, captured during the Battle of the Bulge in the Hertigen Forrest, Germany and was liberated by Gen. Montgomery in April, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, AnnLarae Berg in 1947; three brothers, Robert L., James and James M. and one great-grandson, Mason C. Hodges.

Survivors include his wife, Verna, of the home; two sons, Greg and wife Sheila, Salina and Sam and wife Debi, Kansas City, MO.; two daughters, Frances Kuhlmeier and husband Bob, Salina and Jean Fevelo, Staten Island, NY; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Enterprise. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, D.A.V. or V.F.W. in care of the mortuary.
