Calvin Wayne “Stan” Stansberry
July 8, 1925 - February 29, 2008

Calvin Wayne “Stan” Stansberry, passed away on Friday, February 29, 2008. Calvin was born July 8, 1925, in Lakeland, Florida, to Milton and Aline Stansberry. Early in his childhood, the family moved to Kansas, where the family homestead was located south of Osborne, before moving into town.

Calvin attended Osborne High School, where he participated in many sports, graduating in 1942 when he proceeded to Washburn University and was a member of the football team. In 1944, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country overseas. Following his tour of duty, he returned to Salina, where he graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He worked for Wilson & Company as a surveyor and draftsman, was an instructor at Kansas Wesleyan and served on the advisory counsel for the Salina Area Vo-Tech.

He married Letha Arlene Johnson on December 29, 1951. In 1959, Calvin along with the late Bill Schwartz formed Salina Blueprint Company. In 1975, he acquired complete ownership of Salina Blueprint. In 1965, he opened Salina Microfilm Company and also operated Salina Stamp Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Letha; sisters, Mary and Virginia; brothers, Charles, Milton Jr. and Holmes; and his parents. Calvin is survived by sister, Eve Noyes of Osborne; sons, Craig Stansberry of Wichita and Gary Stansberry and wife Karen of Salina; daughter, Jan Frankenberg and husband Jay of Leawood; nephews, Charles VanGundy and wife Betsy of Marquette, Larry Noyes and wife Rita of Florida and Brad Noyes and wife Shelia of Topeka; grandchildren, Richard, Chistopher, Jaclyn and Madeline; and a great-grandson, Carson Wayne Stansberry of Salina.

Calvin was active in the Masonic Scottish Rite, ISIS Shrine, Directors Staff and Royal Order of Jesters. He was a member of Salina Elks Lodge 718 and the VFW Post 1432. He was an active bowler in Salina and dedicated fisherman.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina or the ISIS Shrine, in care of the mortuary.
