GYPSUM — Lucille Swisher, 93, died May 22, 2008, at Holiday Resort in Salina. Mrs. Swisher was born Phila Lucille Kitterman on March 12, 1915, in Durham to John A. and Phila E. (Sloop) Kitterman. She was a retired ward clerk, working at the former Asbury Hospital in Salina until retirement in 1975. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett “Bounce,” in 1987; one son, John Sr. in 2000; one daughter, Donna Jean Henry in 1985; five brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by three sons, Robert of Salina, and Delmer and Edward, both of Gypsum; two daughters, Betty Holcom of Shawnee and Sharon Anderson of Smolan; one son-in-law, Robert A. Henry of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Kay Swisher of Salina; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and her little dog, Lacy. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Gypsum United Methodist Church, Rev. Nancy Modin officiating. Burial will be in the Gypsum Valley Cemetery, rural Gypsum. Memorials are suggested to the church or the Gypsum Valley EMS. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. |
