William R. “Bill” Tacha
March 14, 1920 - August 10, 2008

William R. “Bill” Tacha, 88, died Sunday, August 10, 2008, at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center, Salina.

Mr. Tacha was born March 14, 1920, in Jennings, KS. He was retired from the lumber business.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Salina. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Jennings and Oberlin, Kansas. He was a retired veteran, serving in the United States Army during World War II with the 55th Signal Warning Battalion.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest William and Bertha Josephine (Hanson) Tacha; a son, Dr. Thomas Craig Tacha, in 1995; and three brothers, Dale, Daniel and twin Robert.

He is survived by his wife, Ethlyn, of the home; a daughter, Toni Graham of Salina; a daughter-in-law, Martha Tacha of Grand Island, NE; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Frack and husband Bryce, Katie Windholz and husband Chris, Kelly Graham, Hanna Graham, Jeffrey Graham, William Tacha and Anne Tacha; a special friend, Emperatriz Elliott and her family; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 16, at First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis, Salina, with the Rev. Steve Fagerburg officiating. Family and friends can gather afterward to enjoy a small meal and a time of fellowship at the church. Interment will be at a later date in Jennings Cemetery, Jennings, KS. Cremation has been selected and there will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church.
