Sheldon Laverne Turner,, 87, Salina, died Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2008. Mr. Turner was born Apr. 27, 1920 in WaKeeney. He was the plumbing inspector for the city of Salina, retiring in 1982 and was a private in the US Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, a son, Ernest and four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife Lola; three daughters, Edythe (Walt) Tisdale, Lola (Barry) Nelson and Vella Sippel; a son, Clarence (Vivian) Turner and 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church of God. Inurnment will be in the Bennington Cemetery.
