Wallace K. "Wally" Weiss, 75, New Cambria, and formerly of Salina, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008. He was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Stoney Creek, IN, to Louis and Inez (Thornburg) Weiss. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, retiring as a senior master sergeant. In 1967, he moved to Salina to serve as a recruiter for the U.S. Air Force. Later, he worked for the city of Salina Community Development Department. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, was a lifetime member of the Red Baron AMBUCS and served on the Sheriff’s Reserve for many years. He married Carol (Humpert) Pitcock on Nov. 1, 1985. Survivors include his wife, Carol, of the home; two daughters, Vickie Barnes of Spokane, WA, and Kathy Hedges of Salina; two sons, Douglas Weiss of Windsor, MO, and Marty Pitcock of Salina; a brother, Doyle Weiss of Muncie, IN; three sisters, Theda Zearbaugh and Donna Storm, both of Muncie, IN, and Cheryl Gable of Losantville, IN; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at the Fellowship Baptist Church, 600 W. Prescott, Salina. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, KS, with military rites by McConnell Air Force Base. There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials to the church or the Red Baron AMBUCS, in care of the mortuary. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, Kansas 67401 is in charge of arrangements. |
