Harriet Lee Cole
April 26, 1921 - April 5, 2009

Harriet Lee Cole, 87, left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Minneapolis Good Samaritan Center, where she had been a part of their family since 2005. Lee was born on April 26, 1921, at Rosston Township, in Harper County, Oklahoma, to Charlie P. and Mina Myrtle (Mead) Gowens. She worked at Asbury Hospital and with USD #305. Lee was a lifetime member of the VFW and MOPH, and a member of the Church of Christ. She was an avid collector of angels and acquired well over 5000 during her lifetime.

Lee was preceded in death by her husbands, Irving “Hank” Cole and LeRoy Davis; a daughter, Virginia Bell; two brothers, Aaron Gowens and Lawrence Gowens; and two sisters, Nina Mae Johnson and Iona LaOrange.

Lee is survived by a son, Charlie Cole, of Salina; two daughters, Harriet Seal, of Massachusetts, and Carol Gross, of Brookville; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 30 great-great grandchildren. Lee is also survived by her step-children; step-grandchildren; step-great grandchildren; in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, 67401. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the mortuary. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, at the mortuary, with burial in Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kansas Wesleyan University.
