Mrs. DeForest was preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. DeForest; and five brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Smith and friend Royce Bacon, a granddaughter, Melody Elam and husband Shannon, and Royce's son Camron, all of Salina; a brother, Ralph Mason; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, with a vigil and rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Kaye Pogue Hospice Center of Salina and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
