| Delbert Dean “Del” Frederking |

Delbert Dean “Del” Frederking, 76, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009, surrounded by his loving family in Salina. He was born Oct. 3, 1932, on the family farm south of Lucas, in rural Russell County, to Theodore and Emma (Arkebauer) Frederking. Del was joined in marriage on April 25, 1954, to Marilyn May Reinert, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sylvan Grove. This union was blessed with four sons, Gregory, Douglas, Daniel, and Timothy. In December 1953, Del joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served three years. He graduated from the Coyne Electronics School in Chicago in 1957. Del and Marilyn owned and operated Del’s TV and Tape Center in Salina, retiring in 1988, when they sold their business to their two sons. Del was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the Board of Education and as a Sunday School Teacher. Del also served on the Property Board, attended Sunday Morning Bible classes and home Bible Study Groups. He was a member of the Salina Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels since 1993. He was also a life member of the American Legion. Del was a private pilot and an aviation enthusiast. Del was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Emma (Arkebauer) Frederking; three brothers, Harold, Edwin, and Victor; and one sister, Ella Endorf. Del is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn; four sons, Greg, of Valdez, Alaska, Doug and wife Karen, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Dan and wife Dana and Tim and wife Kim, both of Salina; five grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, and Daley, all of Salina, and Nick and Nate, both of Grand Prairie, Texas; one stepdaughter, Heather Mettlen and husband Dell, of Salina; four brothers, Walter and Clemons, both of Salina, Arnold, of Lucas, and Carl, of Russellville, Ark.; three sisters, Clara Thaemert, of Salina, Bernita Klausmeirer, of Evansville, Ind., and Vera Benecke, of Aurora, Colo.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina, with a graveside service following at Roselawn Cemetery.
