Rufus J. Janzen, 58, of Salina, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009. He was born Sept. 8, 1950, in Salina, the son of Donald and Patsy Janzen. A graduate of Wichita East High, he was a carpenter and brick mason for Busboom-Rauh Construction for 18 years. Survivors include his wife, Sally, of Salina; three sons, Jay Shanley and wife Theresa and Matthew Hewitt and wife Alyse, all of Salina, and Tommy Hewitt and partner Sheldon Moten, of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren, Jason and Jayelynne Shanley, of Salina, and Lars Hewitt, of Burbank, Calif.; and stepmother, Vilma Laughlin, of Wichita. A memorial service will be at a later date. Cremation was chosen. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is in charge.
