He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1960.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel, of the home; three daughters, Tina Ferguson, of Michigan, Terry Nemechek, of Smolan, and Tanya McNally, of Missouri; one son, Alan Johnson, of Salina; two sisters, Shirley Musick and Rita Bazzell, both of Chicago; and seven grandchildren, Eric, Cory, Ryan, Cheyanna, Heather, Kristina and Dani.

A private family service will be held. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is handling arrangements.
