Leilla H. Kubitschek
May 27, 1919 - April 21, 2009

Leilla H. Kubitschek, 89, Salina, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Mrs. Kubitschek was born May 27, 1919, in Salina, where she lived her entire life. She married Ray Kubitschek on Nov. 5, 1942, in Salina. She was an executive secretary for the Kansas Vocational Rehabilitation Center for 16 years. She was also a member of the 20th Century Club and Sunflowers First Ladies Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents, John David Hill and the former Dena Amann Hill; and her brother, John David Hill II.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Kenneth Kubitschek and wife Janice, of Asheville, N.C.; two daughters, Kay Williams and husband Ron, of Fairfax, Va., and Kathy Fitzpatrick and husband Bob, of Overland Park; two sisters-in-law, Helen Samsel, of Springfield, Mo., and Marty Ashenfelter, of Salina; 13 grandchildren, Brad Williams, of Fairfax, Kelly Fitzpatrick, of Atlanta, Ga., and Kristen, Brett and Ben Fitzpatrick, of Overland Park, and Brent, Evan, Carolyn, Carrie, Courtney, Austin, Catherine and Claire Kubitschek, of Asheville; three nephews, John D. Hill, of Hailey, Idaho, Cary Hill, of Las Vegas, and Tom Samsel, of Springfield, Mo.; two nieces, Vicki La Hay, of Springfield, and Becky Augustine, of Salina.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina, the Rev. Kerry Ninemire officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice Center, 139 N. Penn, Salina, or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm.

Leilla’s love of life, family and friends defined who she was. She leaves us an amazing legacy of kindness, caring, love and laughter. She greeted each and every day with a smile and a chance to relish the full experiences of a new day. She will be missed by all of us who love her.
