Joseph L. Moran
May 12, 1943 - January 1, 2009

Joseph L. Moran, 65, Salina, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at K.U. Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Mr. Moran was born May 12, 1943, in West-moreland to Thomas P. and Geraldine E. (McCormick) Moran. He was raised in Blaine.

He worked as a retail manager of Woolco and Pamida stores. He then became the purchasing manager for Tony’s Pizza Service in Salina for more than 20 years, and retired in 1999.

He graduated from St. Benedict’s College, Atchison, in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2278.

He married Colleen McNally on Nov. 22, 1969, in Onaga.

Survivors include his wife, Colleen, of Salina; one daughter, Kristy Rodriguez and husband Matt, of Salina; two sons, Sean and wife Sherri Moran, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Michael Moran and fiancée Samantha Hargadine, of Manhattan; seven grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Moran, both of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Haylie, Rudy, Matthew, Kelli and Riley Rodriguez, all of Salina; three brothers, Basil, of Topeka, Steve, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jim, of Patterson, N.J.; four sisters, Rosemary Moran, of Kansas City, Mo., Julia Harrington, of Kansas City, Kan., Patricia Dulac, of Garland, Texas, and Suzanne Marti, of Shawnee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401, with a vigil and rosary service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina 67401, with Father Kerry Ninemire as the Celebrant. Burial will be in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina.
