Karen moved to Gypsum in 1990 where she was the Gypsum postmaster, retiring in 2008. She served in the U.S. Postal system for 32 years. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Gypsum.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger Rollet. Karen’s greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and attending every one of their activities. She was an avid sports enthusiast including playing and coaching softball. She found excitement in watching K-State volleyball, KU basketball, KC Royals baseball or going to any car racetrack she could find. She loved to travel and, along those travels, would stop at any casino she saw or antique shop where she collected many Blue Willow pieces. She was a friend and confidante to many in what became her hometown, Gypsum. She loved animals and had many. Her dog, Bart, was a longtime companion and preceded her in death. She is survived by her beloved dog, Kandi.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth St., Salina, with the Rev. Dave Walters officiating. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kanopolis Cemetery, Kanopolis. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary, where the family will receive friends 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church in Gypsum or to the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute in Little Rock, where she was so compassionately taken care of during her fight with multiple myeloma.
