Woodrow F. "Red" Seed, 91, Salina and formerly of Hutchinson, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009. He was born February 24, 1917 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. On June 5, 1937 he married Agatha M. James in Bridgeport, Illinois. For many years, he served as a quality control supervisor for the DMH Corporation in Pontiac, Michigan. In 1959, he moved to Hutchinson, Kansas, where he was employed by the Lowen Sign Company. In 2001, he moved to Salina. For many years, he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson, and is currently a member of the Belmont Boulevard Church of the Nazarene, Salina. He was a noted guitar player. Survivors include his wife, Agatha; two sons, Joe Seed and wife Karen of Gypsum, Ks., and Gary Seed and wife Debbie of Leavenworth, Ks.; five grandchildren Gaye Coburn & husband Mike, Joel Seed and wife Suzy, Shawna Seed and husband Rick Holter, Rebecca Seed, and Matthew Seed; five great-grandchildren Sean Coburn and wife Melinda, Cara Coburn, Shannon Seed, Seth Seed, and Stetson Seed; and two great-great-grandchildren Dakota Shuler and Jaylah Seed. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, Salina, Kansas 67401 with Rev. Brent Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Gypsum Valley Cemetery, near Gypsum, Kansas. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina in care of the mortuary. |
