Dorothy Alice Smock, 84, of Salina, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009. She was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Beverly to Axel and Martha Nelson. She was a retired secretary for several Salina businesses and worked in food service at Cottonwood Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Munroe (Bud) Smock; and two sisters, Marie Kohman and Marcella Nelson. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Rita Smock and Sue Basgall and husband Bill, all of Salina; a son, Barry Smock and wife Cheri, of Lindsborg.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. A private burial will be held in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Saline County Animal Shelter or Sunflower Adult Daycare, 401 W. Iron, Salina. |
