Lola L. Turner, 84, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009. Mrs. Turner was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Woodbine, the daughter of Gilbert and Louise (Obermeyer) Beckel. She was a homemaker and worked as an operator with Southwestern Bell for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne; son, Ernest; and sister, Della Kastner. Survivors include three daughters, Edythe (Walt) Tisdale, Lola (Barry) Nelson and Vella Sippel; one son, Clarence (Vivian) Turner; one sister, Vivian Birdwell; one uncle, Herbert Beckel; one niece, Pam (Ron) DeTroye; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of God, 1311 Meyer Dr., Salina 67401. Inurnment will be in the Bennington Cemetery, Bennington. Memorials may be made to the church or Saline County Dialysis, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401. |
