Dale A. Werries, 85, Salina, passed away, Tuesday, April 21, 2009 under the loving care of the staff at Eaglecrest Retirement Community. He was born on July 6, 1923 in Tescott, the son of Lewis Alvin and Blanche Mary (Cramton) Werries. Dale served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He owned and operated Werries Retail Liquor for twenty years. He worked as an automotive mechanic with Long McArthur, Salina Manufacturing and Morrison Grain. He was a member of American Legion Post 62 and VFW Post 1432 both of Salina. Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Blanche Werries; a daughter, Kristie Greene and a granddaughter, Brandy Martin. Survivors include three daughters, Marcia Craft and husband Kent of Wichita, Connie Martin and husband Mark of Abilene and Janelle Coons and husband Jim of Leawood; a son-in-law, Mark Greene of Salina; two sisters, Wanda Tillett and Darlene Nutz, both of Salina; four grandchildren, Michael Craft of Carlsbad, California, Ryan Craft of Wichita, Kate Aldridge of Salina and Jordie Coons of Leawood; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie and Garrett Craft of Wichita and Destinee and Chastity Aldridge of Salina. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 E. Neal, Salina. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church. |
