Karl L. Wilvers, 73, Salina, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009. He was born Dec. 27, 1935, in Salina to Warren and Jeannette Wilvers. On March 20, 1965, he married Betty Dancer in Salina. In 1979, he retired from the U.S. Army Reserves after 22½ years of service and was a member of TREA, the retired enlisted association, where he served as sergeant of arms and carried the flag. He worked as an assembler for El Dorado National, Salina, retiring in 2002. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; sons, Brian Wilvers and wife Lisa and Charles “Chuck” Wilvers, all of Salina; brothers, Ronald Jore and wife Marva, James Jore and wife Peggy, and Leroy Jore, all of Salina; sisters, Janice Jornod and husband Greg, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Joyce Perry, of Rose Hill; a half brother, Glen Earl Wilvers, of Sun City, Ariz.; stepmother, Adella Wilvers, of Salina; and three grandsons, Brett, William “Billy” and Matthew Wilvers, all of Salina. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Salina Heights Christian Church with Pastors Kerry Basinger and Darrel Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina, with military rites provided by Fort Riley. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. |
