Cora Ann Brown, 68, of Salina, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Salina Regional Health Center. Cora was born on July 12, 1942, in Junction City. She was employed at Griffins in Minneapolis, Kan., and owned and operated the Bennington Cafe and worked at Meier Moving and Storage before retiring. Cora was a lifetime bowler. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Cloyd Jones. Survivors include her husband, Erwin Brown; mother, Ruth Gallaway; three sisters, Bonnie Hoffman, Mary Kay Gillum and Ethel Wilson; three brothers, Leroy, Jay and George Gallaway; children, Joni Oldham (Marc) and Jason (Ann) Jones; and stepchildren, Julie Sachse (Dan), Laurie Decker (Jeff) and Stephanie Sherode. Her grandchildren are Trevor (Bailey) Wolf, Lyndi Bernard (Jeremy), Brandi and Shaina Jones, Danielle, Jordon and Shane Sachse, Nicholas and Noah Decker, Olivia and Cierra Sherode, Antonio Brown, Jotis Albright and Josephine Rivera. Her great-grandchildren are Gus Wolf and soon-to-be Baby Bernard. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Ryan Mortuary where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Cora will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis, Salina. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery, Bennington. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society. |
