He was a contractor working in residential home construction, and his hobbies included fishing, hunting and camping. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack; brother, Daniel; sister, Mary Cuypers; and stepfather, Harold D. Sims.

Steve is survived by his mother, Julia Sims, of Salina; son, Josh Fisher, of Salina; stepson, Gary, of Florida; three grandchildren, Breanna Fisher, Kelsey Fisher and Trenton Fisher; and stepgranddaughter, Arwen. Steve has four brothers, Jim Fisher, of Salina, John Fisher, of Mechanicsville, Va., Richard Fisher, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Mark Fisher, of Wakarusa; and five sisters, Christina Baker, Julie Rush and Ann Hutson, all of Salina, Theresa Ross, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Susan Fortune, of Topeka. There are eight nephews, eight nieces, 12 great-nieces, seven great-nephews, a great-great-niece and a great-great-nephew.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Inurnment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish or Kansas Fish and Game Commission.
