Sibyl Gunnerson
February 25, 1912 - January 21, 2010

Sibyl Gunnerson, 97, of Salina, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at the home of her niece and nephew in Wichita. Mrs. Gunnerson was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Hope to Albert and Alexia (Dillon) Lorson.

She graduated from Bethany College with a degree in teaching, and taught English and drama for several years at Assaria High School.

She and her husband, Edmund, owned and operated Gunnerson Photography in Salina for many years. She was a charter member of St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund C. Gunnerson, in 1994. She is survived by a nephew, Steve Lorson and wife Patricia, of Wichita; and two nieces, Sarah Jane Orcutt, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Elizabeth Ann Weller, of Slidell, La.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401, with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. with Father Nick Parker officiating.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina 67401, with Father Kerry Ninemire celebrant, followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at the Ashton Cemetery, rural Hope.
