Nancy A. Hittner, 71, of Salina, died Sunday, July 4, 2010. She was born Feb. 11, 1939, in Kearney, Neb., the daughter of Vincent and Anna (Franke) Glatter. On Aug. 8, 1960, she was married to Anthony L. Hittner. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret I. Rader. Mrs. Hittner was a devoted wife and mother and beloved schoolteacher. She was a member of the National Educator's Association and retired after 22 years of service in the Salina School District. She was also a member of the Salina Municipal Band. She was an avid bridge player and bicyclist who participated in Biking Across Kansas several times. Nancy is survived by her husband, Anthony, of the home; two daughters, Teresa A. Hittner, of Interlochen, Mich., and Catherine M. Hittner and husband Jim Bechle, of Aurora, Colo.; a son, Daniel V. Hittner and wife Michelle, of Wichita; a brother, Donald V. Glatter, of Amherst, Neb.; a sister, Sister Ann Vincent, CSJ, of Concordia; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1000 Burr Oak Lane, Salina 67401. Burial will be in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina. A vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the church. To honor Nancy's wishes, please send no flowers or plants.
