Dr. Kenneth C. Jeffrey, 83, of Salina, died Monday, March 1, 2010. He was born April 3, 1926, in Snyder, Colo., the son of Louis and Nettie (Cowles) Jeffrey. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific. On Sept. 25, 1946, he married Juanita Hamilton in Nickerson. For 50 years, he was a chiropractor in Claflin, retiring Dec. 31, 1999. He has been a resident of Salina since 1995. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salina, where he was past president of the Methodist Men and the Peacemaker’s Sunday school class; a 59-year member of the Claflin Masonic Lodge No. 424; member of York Rite, Scottish Rite, Isis Shrine and Red Cross of the Constantine; Past Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of Kansas of Order of the Eastern Star; life member of the Claflin VFW; life member of the Great Bend American Legion; member of the Tri-Rivers Marine Corps League; Past Patron of Harmony Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, Salina; Past-Patron of the Lindsborg Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star; and was a past mayor of Claflin. Survivors include his wife, Juanita, of the home; three sons, Gary Jeffrey and wife Shirley, of Merriam, Tully Jeffrey and wife Bonnie, of Claflin, and Troy Jeffrey and wife Melinda, of Newton; a daughter, Bennidetta Krier and Sheldon Rous, of Claflin; a sister, Blanche Houston, of Tribune; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, at First United Methodist Church, Salina, with the Rev. Troy Bowers officiating. Private inurnment will be later. Memorials may be made to the church or ESTARL Grand Chapter of Kansas or donor’s choice. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401, is handling arrangements. |
