John Thomas McGinty, 59, of Salina, died Sunday, April 25, 2010. He was born Oct. 28, 1950, in Manhattan. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1968. Shortly thereafter, he served in the First Air Cavalry as a med-evac pilot in Vietnam. He retired from the Salina Police Department in 1992. He was employed at Green Team of Abilene as a manager until his death.
John was preceded in death by his father, Clyde McGinty; and his stepmother, Valerie Rush. Survivors include his wife, Tara, of the home; daughters, Erin McGinty, of Salina, Jade Stockman, of Topeka, and Michelle McGinty, of Houston; a grandson, Ian, of Salina; a granddaughter, Jordan, of Houston; sisters, Debbie McGinty, of Smolan, and Valerie Barr and husband Jack, of Salina; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Salina Community Theatre.
