John Joseph Schneider, 92, of Salina, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010. He was born May 16, 1918, in Saline County, the son of John and Lucy (Seramur) Schneider. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life and was employed at Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Company for 25 years. John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and Army Air Corps veteran during World War II. John was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve, in 2005; and three sisters, Sister Monica Schneider, CSJ, Lucy McCann and Francis C. Schneider. Survivors include two sons, Father Robert Schneider, of Safety Harbor, Fla., and Paul Schneider, of Salina; two daughters, Ann Longbine, of Salina, and Agnes Marie Scolastico, of Shawnee; two sisters, Mary Ryan, of New Cambria, and Sister Lucy Schneider, CSJ, of Concordia; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary's Grade School Endowment. |
