Shirley M. Redden (Smith), age 78, died April 3, 2012 at her residence in Salina.
Shirley was born Shirley Mae Butrick on April 28, 1933 at Stanberry, MO to George W. and Lula M. (Fults) Butrick. With her husband Ron she owned and operated Weber's Drive-In in north Salina for many years. She then worked as a Civil Process Secretary for the Saline County Sheriff's Office for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Ron in 2000.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Donald R. Smith of the home; two sons, David Redden and wife Theresa, of Salina and Ron Redden and wife Shelli, of Glasco; three daughters, Rhonda Betts of Kansas City, MO, Brenda Scott and husband Doug, of Topeka, and Karen Meier and husband Rodney, of Salina; three step-sons, Dr. Mark Smith and wife Tara, of Little Rock, AR, Richard Smith and wife Brenda of Lindsborg, KS., and Kent Smith and wife Konnie of Salina; two brothers, John Butrick of Kansas City, MO and Hugh Butrick of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Margaret Lambing, of St. Joseph, MO, Mary Weigert, of St. Joseph, MO and Gayle Reynolds, of Brookfield, MO.; five grandchildren, Josh Betts, Briana Simpson, Lindsey Scott, Taylor Scott and Garrett Redden and seven step-grandchildren, Josh Smith, Katie Smith, Kamryn Smith, Kyle Smith, Mark Smith, Amanda Meier and Melissa McCoy.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Emmanuel Christian Center, 1325 East Cloud St. Salina, with Rev. Loren Houltberg and Rev. Wayne DeWindt officiating. Burial will follow in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth St. Memorials are suggested to the Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina.
