Phyllis Jean Edwards, 89, of Salina, passed away Tuesday Oct. 24, 2017. She was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Downs, the daughter of Benjamin and Alice (Sherbundy) Wood.
Jean worked as a secretary for Day and Night Plumbing for 20 years. She also worked as “lunch lady” for USD 305 at Oakdale and Hawthorne schools and cleaned the KSAL radio station for 25 years. Jean loved her family, her church, traveling, yard work and going to her son Allan’s donut shop.
Survivors include: son, Dennis Edwards (Marlene); daughter, Mary Edwards; daughter-in-law, Connie Edwards; five grandchildren, Chris Hurtig, Joshua Edwards, Lucas Edwards, Lindsey Edwards, and Kolby Edwards; and eight great-grandchildren, Abram, Collins, Iestyn, Addy, Lawson, Lexi, Lauren, and Olivia.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Raymond Edwards; son, Allan Edwards; brother, Bill Wood; and sisters, Lucille Hatfield, and Beulah Collins.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family greeting visitors from 6-8 p.m.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at the Heartland Worship Center, 118 S. 8th. St., Salina. Memorials are to: the church, or Kindred Hospice.
