Mitchell Scott Farres, 85, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017. He was born October 21, 1931, in Latimer, the son of Hubert and Esther (Krause) Farres. Mitchell was baptized at Woodbine Methodist Church on April 25, 1943. He was a graduate from Woodbine High School in May 1951. He served in the United States Army from October 1952 to October 1954. Mitchell married Delores Schlesener on October 21, 1956. He joined St. Paulís Lutheran Church, Woodbine on April 14, 1957 and Trinity Lutheran Church, Salina on May 13, 1962. He was a truck driver for Graves, ANR and UPS truck lines for 25 years until his retirement in October 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dyas, Lillis and Adair Farres; and sisters, Olga Watt, Opal Holscher, Rose Watt and Oneda Jahnke; and daughter-in-law, Carrie Farres.
Mitchell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores; children, Randall (Elaine) Farres, of McPherson, Gregory (Lori) Farres, of Des Moines, IA, and Dennis (Kathy) Farres, of Salina. Grandchildren, Neal (Morgan) Farres and Bethany Farres; step-granddaughters, Corinne, Channing, Chelsea and Candace; step-great-grandchildren, Caleb, Charley, James, and David; sisters, Charmaine Oesterreich, of Woodbine and Joan Roehrman, of Kanopolis.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 S 9th St, Salina. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2017, also at the church, with Pastor Dennis Kootz officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 11, 2017, in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.
