Michael Nusbaum, 66, passed away with his family by his side on November 7, 2017. He was born on June 1, 1951 to Andrew Vincent and Leona Anna (Hamling) Nusbaum.
He grew up in Salina and attended Sacred Heart High School, graduating in 1969. He went on to attend Emporia State University where he majored in English and played for the golf team. Mike was an avid golfer throughout his life, playing in various tournaments with life-long friends, teaching lessons while working at the Elk’s, and practicing his short game in his front yard.
Mike lived many good years in Solomon, KS. He worked at Triad Manufacturing in Salina and was active in the Solomon community. He served as Solomon mayor for 3 terms and loved contributing to the Solomon Rec League, coaching softball, baseball, and basketball and hosting “open gym” days at the high school for many years. He loved his family, KU basketball, and golf.
He is survived by: his children, Noah Nusbaum (Jill), Kiley Hicks (Joel), and Jake Nusbaum (Carly); his grandchildren; Griffin, Micah and Harper; a brother-in-law, Rick; sister-in-law, Nikki; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his sister, Onie; and brother, Andy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 3rd, from 1-4 p.m. at Blue Skye Brewery in Salina, KS.
