Marilyn Delaine (Montgomery) Swenson, 95, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. She was born on June 23, 1922 in Gypsum, Kansas to Florence (Peterson) and Everett Montgomery. She graduated from Assaria High School; last living of The Class of 1940.
She married Roscoe N. Swenson in 1941. Thus began their 76 year ‘love story’.
Survivors include Roscoe (97), daughters Pam Gengler (John) of Salina, and Debra Fisher of Topeka, Grandsons Evan Fisher (Emmy Miller) of Topeka, and Joshua Gengler (Jessica) of Salina, and Great Grandchild Sophia Fisher.
Marilyn is preceded in death by their son, Larry, sister, Darlene Price, brother, Carrol Montgomery, and Grand Daughter Claire Fisher.
Roscoe and Marilyn owned Swenson Appliance, and the oldest building in Salina (formerly the Anderson Broom Factory), they drove their antique cars in local parades, and are members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Marilyn was active in ABWA. She will be remembered for her ornery yet loving nature!
The funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. A Graveside service follows in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
