NEW CAMBRIA — Loren L. Thorp, 72, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, in Salina. He was born Feb. 23, 1945, in Clay Center. Loren grew up in the Alida community west of Junction City and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School, Chapman, in 1963.
A member of the Alida-Upland Cooperative Parish he led the church’s youth fellowship for many years. He farmed with his father and was involved in a number of agriculturally based businesses. In 1989, Loren married Carol Keaton and continued his pursuit of farming activities and raising livestock.
He is survived by: his wife, Carol of the home; son, BayRone Boydston of Kansas City; brothers, Roger (Verlene) of Estes Park, Colo., Robert (Deborah) of Deadwood, S.D.; a niece and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Leslie and Rebecca Thorp of rural Junction City; and two infant siblings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with visitation the hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Wesleyan Cemetery, in Clay County.
