Allen Ray Kopf

Allen Ray Kopf, 81, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Aug 10th, 2024 with his wife Susan by his side. Born in Missouri to Laverne L. Kopf and Marita “Rita” E. Kopf, Allen spent most of his adolescent and adult life in Saline County, Kansas.

As a young child, Allen was a natural country boy. He spent a lot of time with his grandfathers where he developed a love for the outdoors, a passion for fishing and a very colorful vocabulary. A vocabulary so colorful in fact, that he and his siblings regularly bathed with bars of soap that had teeth marks in them. This colorful vocabulary made him a natural fit in the firehouse where he had a long career as a firefighter, retiring a lieutenant for the Salina Fire Department in 1997.

He spent his days off from the firehouse working for Tink’s Auto Repair, hunting and fishing with his buddies and helping his friends and family with whatever they needed fixed. Allen was an extremely hard worker from a very young age and even after retirement from the fire department found a second career working for Saline County where he also retired.

Allen cared deeply for his friends, but nothing meant more to him than his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could not speak to him on the phone without telling him everyone you had talked to and how they were doing. As a husband and father, he did everything he could to make sure his family was taken care of. As a grandfather, he provided so many priceless and unforgettable memories that will be cherished for decades and generations.

He was preceded in death by his Parents.

He is survived by his wife Susan; children Jeff, Mike and Michelle (Fuester); stepchildren, Carole Drake, Michelle Long and Chris Cox; Siblings Dale Kopf and Brenda O’Gorman; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina, KS. Burial will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.

A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth Salina, KS. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice and sent in care of Ryan Mortuary.
