Anna Jean McDaniel, 101 years old, passed away December 15, 2024. Known as Jean, she was born August 28, 1923, to Roy and Erma (Tripp) Vangieson in Hugoton, Kansas.
Jean grew up in Seward County, Kansas. She graduated from Liberal High School in 1940. In February 1953 she began working in the Federal Civil Service. She worked in Nevada, California, Georgia, Florida, and Texas. She retired from the Federal Civil Service in 1983.
Jean married Grady McDaniel in February 1973 in Jacksonville, Florida. They moved to Salina, Kansas in 1989. They were both active members at The Church of the Cross.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Grady; her parents; sister, Doris Carpenter; and brother, Donald Vangieson.
Survivors include niece, Vanetta Carpenter of Camden TN; niece Cindy Hall of Liberal KS. Little brother, Clifford Thompson and his family; and special friends, Judy and Larry Beck of Salina, KS, and Jennifer and John Redding of Salina, KS.
No visitation or services planned. Private inurnment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Park, Atlanta, Georgia.
Memorials may be made to the Greater Salina Community Foundation for the benefit of the Salina Food Bank.
