Barbara Marshall Obituary

Barbara C. Marshall, beloved wife of Larry L. Marshall, passed away recently at her home in Salina after a long illness.

Barbara was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1938 to Blaine and Edna Criss. She lived in El Dorado, Kansas, and then attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She graduated from the KU School of Business in 1960 with a degree in Accounting. After working for Arthur Anderson & Co in Denver, she married Larry Marshall in 1962 and the couple settled in Salina. She worked for Research Products in Salina before welcoming her first child in 1964 and her second in 1967. She went on to participate in many civic organizations including the Salina Charities League (of which she was one of the original founders) and her PEO chapter. In her younger years she enjoyed snow skiing and boating, and later in life she enjoyed relaxing at her favorite vacation spots in Keystone Colorado and Scottsdale, Arizona. She loved to travel and visited many parts of the world with her husband Larry. She worked tirelessly for the betterment of Salina and was a devoted wife and mother. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Barbara is survived by her husband Larry of 63 years; her son, Steve Marshall and his wife Brenda of Lawrence; her daughter, Stacie Coder and her husband Jeff of Effingham; her grandchildren, Nia Marshall of Seattle, Duncan Marshall and his wife Brenna of Lawrence, Cameron Marshall and his wife Kaitlyn of Topeka, Keely Marshall of Kansas City, Ainsley Marshall of Atlanta, Alex Coder of Effingham, Lexie Coder of Fairview, Coulter Bisel of Effingham, Kevin Coder of Effingham, and Cooper Coder of Effingham; along with five great grandchildren; plus many friends and relatives. She brought a bright smile and a hint of mischief everywhere she went. We will miss her very much.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 17, from 4pm to 8pm at Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street in Salina. Barbara’s service will be on Saturday October 18, at 10am, at the First United Methodist Church in Salina, with interment at Roselawn Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Salina Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Good Samaritan Fund at Salina Presbyterian Manor.
