Daniel Harry Okeson, 85, of Salina, Kansas, died April 20, 2021, at Salina Presbyterian Manor. He was born in Salina, Kansas, March 5, 1936, to Harry Valentine Okeson and Elizabeth Jennie (Hilbert) Okeson.
Dan lived in Salina all his life, graduating from Salina High with the Class of 1954. He retired from the
Army Corps of Engineers at Kanopolis and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 41 years with the Army Reserve. Dan collected automobiles, radios, trains, and tools. He rarely missed coffee with friends and Thursday Night Cruisers, until dementia altered his life. He was a lifelong member of Salina First United Methodist Church.
Dan and Linda Marie Rogge were married October 6, 1963, in Clifton, Kansas. He is survived by his wife and their daughter Danelle Marie Okeson, DVM, of Salina and her significant other Darrin Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Marvel Marie Okeson who died in 1922 at age 5.
Ryan Mortuary is handling arrangements for cremation and a private family graveside service at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
