Obituary

Don Leon Knight, 85 years old of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 11th, 2023. Don was born on August 31, 1938 to Dwight and Lucille Knight in Phillipsburg, Kansas. The family moved to Wichita, Kansas shortly after his sister Carol was born.

He met the love of his life, Sharon (Matson) at the local gas station in Salina, Kansas. After a 30 day world wind romance, they married and settled in Salina.

Don’s other love was aviation. He started with General Dynamics, working on the missile silos. He then went to work with Cessna, then back to General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. He ended his 40 plus year career with KC Aviation Gulfstream.

Don and Sharon spent 55 years of marital bliss and had one son, Jeremy Michael Knight. In 2001 Don retired and spent his time fishing, traveling and collecting rocks. Don and Sharon were part of the “Rock Hounds” of Fort Worth, Texas.

Don was predeceased by his sweet wife Sharon, his brother, Larry, his brother, Lyle and sister Judy.

He is survived by his sister, Carol, his son, Jeremy Michael, wife Lucinda, and granddaughter, Chloe.

A viewing will be held at Ryan Mortuary on Friday, September 15 from 5-8 p.m. Graveside service will be held Saturday, September 16th at 11 a.m. in Bennington Cemetery in Bennington. Kansas.
