Salina – Donald N. Walker, 80, passed away April 10, 2021, after a battle with cancer. He was born July 21, 1940, north of Carniero to Ray C. Walker, Sr. and Evelyn M. (Sheridan) Walker.
Don grew up near Carniero and graduated from Brookville High School in 1959. He spent most of his life operating heavy equipment working on many large projects in the area, he was most proud of his involvement with the development and construction of Rolling Hills Zoo and museum.
He is survived by his son, Clinton Walker; daughters, Cara Walker-Spurney (Blaine) of Salina and Chrystal Lamatsch (David) of rural Claflin; grandsons, Tyler Walker of Salina and Michael Lamatsch of Hays; granddaughter, Lauren Kristek (Adam) of rural Claflin; great grandson, Kolten Walker; brothers, Duane Walker (Jo) of Canton and Bill Walker (Carol) of rural Salina; sisters, Helen Pflughoeft, Dixie Walker, Geri Elam (Monte), and Ernestine Allen (Bob) all of Salina; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ray Walker, Jr., (Joyce), Frank Walker and Bob Walker (Marty); his sisters, Virginia Vanek (Cirel), Ramona Wenger (Quincy), Berneice Zimmerman (Claude), and Sherry Walker; former wife, Rachel Janssen; and special friend, Sharon Downing.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Carniero Cemetery in Carneiro Township, Ellsworth County. There will be no visitation.
