Ellen Lee (Daws) Deegan

Ellen Lee (Daws) Deegan, 77, died November 1, 2025, peacefully at her home in Milford, KS. She was born March 15, 1948, in Salina, KS to Clifford Merle Daws and Genevieve Mae (Arnold) Daws.

She married Victor Alan Deegan on June 4, 1966, in the base chapel, Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, CA. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Ellen was a homemaker. She was especially talented at designing, hand stitching, and hand quilting handmade quilts—a lost art. All types of sewing were her passion.

Ellen is survived by her devoted husband Alan Deegan of Milford, KS; her son, Shaun Alan (Suzanne) Deegan of Milford, KS; her daughter, Erin Janae (Deegan) Saiz of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters, Ella Mae (Daws) and Terry Behrendt of Wichita, KS., and Karen Kay (Daws) Thayer of Salina, KS; 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Clifford Daws and Genevieve (Arnold) Daws, and a brother Terry Dean Daws.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the Committal Shelter at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley/ Manhattan, KS., 5181 Wildcat Creek Rd. Manhattan, KS 66503. Pastor Ronnie Roberts will be officiating.

A luncheon will be served following the services in the fellowship hall at First Christian Church, 1429 St Mary’s Rd., Junction City, KS 66441.
